After a sold-out and very successful NLH Hockey and Charity Poker event this past September that raised more than $50000 for Cancer research, Playground Poker Club is pulling out all the stops once again; this time through a charity poker bounty tournament and Legends Banquet on December 4th, 2011 that will promise good times with hockey legends that include Henri Richard, Jean Beliveau, Yvan Cournoyer.
On top of the banquet celebrations and poker centered around the 102nd birthday of the Montreal Canadians, a live auction will be taking place and featuring autographed merchandise, pictures, memorabilia along with much more up for grabs; all with the goal of raising money for under privileged youth to have the opportunity to enjoy and play sports they could otherwise not afford.
Playground is actively involved in many charities, said an enthusiastic COO David Montour, adding; We ve raised roughly $75000 through our past events and this event will allow us to assist young talented hockey players who simply don t have the means to play the game.
Tickets to the 2011 Legends Banquet will be $150 and include VIP access to rub elbows with the hockey greats, as well as food service from The Rail Coal Fired Bistro and takes place from 12PM to 2PM EST.
Ralph Backstrom, Donnie Marshall, Junior Langlois, Ab McDonald, Bobby Rousseau, Phil Goyette,St phane Richer, Chris Nilan, Sergio Momesso, Karl Dykhuis and Enrico Ciccone will all also be in attendance for the banquet.
After everybody is well fed, a $300+$50 Bounty Tournament will begin at 2:30PM EST, with the past hockey legends circulating the room for the first hour of play to shake hands, sign autographs and chat with the players. Bounties are set at a cool, crisp $100 a head, with a chance to triple the score by knocking out a hockey legend for $300 total!
At Playground we re always looking for ways to offer our players the best opportunity to win big and have a great time doing it. The increased bounties incentives in this tournament do that and will keep things interesting and make it even more fun for players to knock one another out of the event. Montour continued. In an effort to continue to cater to poker players, the hockey greats will circulate the poker room during the tournament to allow the players who don t attend the banquet an opportunity to meet their hockey heroes of yesterday. Montreal is the centre of the hockey universe and we feel that Playground is the centre of the poker universe, so hosting an event like this is the perfect marriage for us. said Playground Poker Club COO David Montour. The event also coincides with the 102nd anniversary of Montreal’s hockey team, to add a little more historical flair.
Players will start with 25000 in tournament chips and 20 minute blind levels.
