The 44th World Series of Poker has been running since the end of May in Las Vegas and so far Canadian players and Montreal-based players ‘-and members of our Players Club ‘-have continued to do very well in the annual tournament series.
After a great start to the series, the biggest news of the summer (so far) for Quebec poker was Jason Duval’s bracelet in Event #28, a $1500 No Limit Hold’em tournament. Jason is well known at Playground after his fantastic performances in events here, including final tables of two of the three biggest events in the Playground Poker Spring Classic in May. Amazingly enough, Duval followed up his bracelet win with another strong finish in Event #34, the WSOP’s first-ever Turbo tournament.
Players Club member Greg ‘FBT’ Mueller has continued to post great results ‘-during the second half of the WSOP he notched a 3rd place in Event #29 ($5K HORSE) and an 8th place finish in Event #37 ($5K Limit Hold’em). Beyond those big finishes Mueller has seemed to be among the chip leaders at some point in every tournament he has played ‘-and he has played a very full schedule.
Other Players Club members who had solid results in the second half of the WSOP include Robert Mizrachi (3rd, Event #25), Antonio Esfandiari who made a strong run at another One Drop championship before finishing in 4th place in the One Drop High Rollers event. Jeff Gross placed 12th in the prestigious $25K 6-Max event.
In addition to the Players Club, a few regular Playground players have cashed in events this summer, including Arthur W (Event #35), Jonathan D’Souza (Event #38) and Eric Afriat (Event #58).
Congratulations to everyone!
