Event 1 of the Playground Poker Fall Classic presented by Partypoker.net has just concluded with a victory for Jean-Hugo Robitaille over Anesti Kocini for a first prize of $32,557 – and the Champion’s trophy!
The first event in this year’s Fall Classic was the traditional starting event at Playground Poker Classic festivals – The Wild $150. This is a $135 + $15 NL Hold’em Re-entry tournament with 4 Day 1s. Players were permitted to enter each Day 1 just once (no same-day re-entry) as they tried to qualify for Day 2 on Wednesday November 4th. This time the event attracted 1439 entries, which meant that the $100,000 guarantee on the tournament was dwarfed by the actual prize pool of $188,437.
The money bubble was pierced just after halfway through Day 2 as the first of 135 players were paid, and by the end of the evening there were 31 players remaining who returned for Day 3. Having that many players still in contention meant that Day 3 was a gruelling affair, but it ended well for Jean-Hugo, who pulled out the win at after 9 40-minute levels of play on Day 3.
There was another championship event on Thursday as Event 2, a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em Freeze began at 7:30pm and played through until a winner was crowned. After a 6-way deal was made at the final table the action sped up considerably, and eventually long-time Playground cash specialist Steven Saab emerged as the victor and won a prize totalling $4,252 – although he wasn’t the top prize winner as both Yan Nadeau ($7,000) and Hugo Theotol ($5,000) negotiated larger payouts when the deal was made. Steven also won the Champion’s trophy for his efforts in the tournament.
And now we’re on to the remaining 14 events of the 2015 Playground Poker Fall Classic. The $250 Frenzy will have 6 starting flights from Friday November 6th to Sunday November 8th.
Before the WPT starts, though, don’t forget Satellite Day on November 12th! Players who wish to qualify for the WPT Montreal will have the chance to try and qualify through one of 3 different satellite tournaments with a total of 24 seats guaranteed – and it’s a lock that many more seats than that will be available to be won!
This 4th WPT Montreal gets underway on Friday November 13th and is certain to be the biggest event of the year at Playground Poker Club! As usual, the WPT Montreal will feature a fully televised final table, which only amps up the excitement as the Tournament Hall is converted to a television studio. The best case scenario is to WIN your way to the final table – but even if you don’t, you can join us in the stands to watch all of the action live!
