It’s almost as reliable as a clock! When a major festival gets underway at Playground Poker Club, that means there’s a really great chance that a Bad Beat Jackpot is about to be awarded.
Almost every major tournament festival we’ve hosted in the past 2 years has been accompanied by at least one Jackpot being hit, and the 2015 edition of the Playground Poker Spring Classic is no exception.
This time it was the Omaha BBJ. The jackpot had grown to $25,435 when an Omaha table came together yesterday, and at approximately 10pm the fateful hand was dealt. There were 8 players at the table, which was a $1-$2-$5 Pot Limit Omaha table, this being one of the most popular formats of the game here at Playground.
The hand in question saw 6 players go to the flop. The cards were dealt ( ) and action checked around. The fireworks got started slowly on the turn (), when Karine Broeckaert (who had been the BB) opened to $75. She found 2 callers and the river was dealt. Karine checked, there was a bet of $300 and then her opponent raised to $800. Karine called the $800 and showed down an ALMOST unbeatable hand – Quad Jacks. Fortunately for her, however, she was facing a straight flush (the player held the ).
The loser of the Omaha BBJ gets 40% of the jackpot, the winner of the hand receives 20% of the jackpot. There is also a table share of 20% split between the other 6 players at the table, plus a 20% room share that consists of all other Omaha (not Hold’em) players at the time the jackpot was won. There was one other Omaha table in action when this hand was played.
Congratulations!
