The 2018 MILLIONS North America has come to a close, and after 12 days of non-stop poker action, it is clear that we’re closing the page on the largest and most successful Poker Festival in Canadian history.
The most obvious benchmark for how big was the MILLIONS is the total amount of the prize money that players took home. Once all 6 events were accounted for, an amazing $15,196,020 in prizes were awarded!
The Champions
Here are a few other interesting facts related to the MILLIONS North America:
- The Main Event added a million dollars (Canadian) or more to the lifetime earnings of 3 players: Taylor Black, Darryll Fish, and Anthony Ruberto
- With just 6 events on the schedule, 476 unique players cashed for at least a min-cash in an event
- Victor Ramdin, who has been visiting Playground on and off for years, was the consistency champ in the MILLIONS – he cashed in 4 of the 6 events for a total of $300,000!
- Demo Kiriopoulos came 6th place in the Main Event for $400,000, but he was actually 7th on the overall money list for the MILLIONS. Super High Roller champion Christopher Kruk also cashed in the High Roller, adding up to at total amount cashed of $402,500!
- Martin Jacobson won the (theoretical) battle of the World Champs, cashing for $38,000, compared with Jonathan Duhamel’s $33,000 and Scott Blumstein’s fond memories of his time at Playground Poker Club.
- Darryll Fish may have come 2nd in the Main Event, but he has taken over the #1 slot on the lifetime earnings list in Playground Poker Club events, having increased his Hendon Mob-tracked total to US$1,185,175. That’s a jump of 30 slots on the list!
- Charles La Boissonniere also moved up 30 slots, from 37th all the way to 7th overall in Playground Poker Club history!
- The biggest mover of all, however, was Anthony Zinno, who improved by a whopping 256 places to 48th on the Playground Poker All-Time Money list. Demo Kiriopoulos also made a huge jump of 140 places – he’s now 16th on the list.
Bad Beat Jackpot Winners during the MILLIONS
In addition to the MILLIONS Events were dozens of cash tables running every day – and Bad Beat Jackpots were being won throughout the 12 days of the MILLIONS! There was a grand total of $1,582,751 in BBJ winnings on TOP of the tournament prizes – and we’re not even counting the additional $64,000 in regular weekly cash game bonuses paid as a matter of course!
Deep Fried Oreos!
There was also a prop bet during the MILLIONS between Playground Poker Club and partypoker Live staff focused on the number of entries the Main Event would achieve once all registration was closed on Day 2B. The final result – Playground Poker Club lost the prop bet and The Great Sabu was forced to try to consume a really excessive number of deep-fried Oreo cookies!
