To say that Playground Poker Club is booming this week would be the understatement of the year. Of course, the MILLIONS North America is in full swing, with three champions crowned already and the MILLIONS Main Event playing on Day 2. Besides hosting the biggest tournament series in Canadian history, Playground Poker Club is also the place where six Bad Beat Jackpots were hit in only six days!! That’s right, since our record-breaking $1,375,265 Primary BBJ was awarded at the wee hours of Friday morning, 3 more Jackpots were hit!
First, the very same day, about 12 hours later on table 1, Marc-André G. raised to $12 and got called by 2 spots before Laurent P. 3bet to $45. Marc-André went all-in and only Laurent stayed in. As soon as the flop fell, Marc-André tabled his top set. Laurent was a little more reserved, and waited until the money river fell. He knew right away what had happened, and slammed his hand open. Claps, cheers and high-fives ensued. Here are some photos:
Then, about 27 hours later, another Secondary Bad Beat Jackpot was hit, this time on table 3. For this one, a very nice pot was built, as both players involved were pretty well stacked. The hand started with a raise to $4 that was called once. James B., who was on the button, raised the pot to $27. The action folded to Hany S., who called again. The flop appeared, and both players knew that they were not going away from this hand any time soon.
Hany check called $45. On the turn, he checked again, and when James bet out $50, he raised to $100. James called. The money river fell, and Hany led with a strong $200 bet, which was of course followed by an all-in bet and a call. Just like that! Losing $2/$5 pot on a $1/$2 isn’t always pleasant, but for Hany, it sure made his day!
The room was still buzzing with excitement and people were wondering how could five Bad Beat Jackpots happen in just one week, when all players on table 12 stood as one and made a lot of noise. Alex Garcia, ”The Dominican Nightmare” himself, had just won a pot that triggered… you guessed it! A sixth Bad Beat Jackpot in as many days!
When Robert A. opened the pot to $15, Mark L. raised it to $60. Alex Garcia, sitting in the blinds, went all-in for $200 and change. The action was then folded to Mark, who snap called with the ultimate pair. Alex was second-best, but felt pretty good about rivering quad kings!
At Playground, among staff and players alike, disbelief mixes with amazement, and everybody is wondering when the next hit will happen. Could it be tomorrow, after the last Day 2 of the MILLIONS Main Event has registered its qualifiers? Can we do 7 in 7 days, breaking record after record?
One thing is for sure, with or without a Jackpot, Playground Poker Club will be buzzing. The $10M guaranteed MILLIONS Main Event rolls on with Day 2B. For those waiting for Monday to get back in the tournament rink, Sunday will be the perfect time to mingle with our cash game players and book a good session.
Try your luck. Show your skills. Playground Poker Club, for players by players.
