The WSOP-C Playground is approaching quickly, and as we are getting ready to welcome the world to our first World Series of Poker Circuit Festival, our players from afar are starting to make travel plans. Personal schedules are being prepared; tournament choices are being made and things to do during time off are being researched. Playground Poker Club steps in to help you in this endeavor! But first things first…
We want to make sure that our visitors get the most out of their travel dollar, so we have secured preferential rates on airfare and close-by hotels. Air Canada, the official Canadian airline for the festival, offers airfare discounts of up to 12%, depending on your point of origin. All you need when booking your flight is a promo code, valid between August 16th and September 6th. You can find the promo code and a detailed discount grid here.
After a comfortable flight with Air Canada, make your way to Loews Hotel Vogue or Host Hotel. The Host, located 5 minutes away from Playground, is a very convenient choice, and although we do not have preferential rates with them, their rates are already very reasonable. An excellent choice is you want to avoid crossing the bridge, stay away from traffic and focus on your poker. If, between events, you wish to take in a bit of what Montreal has to offer – and let’s be honest, it has lots! – your best choice is Loews Hotel Vogue, located in Downtown Montreal. Preferential rates at the Loews are secured for all room categories. Whatever your choice falls on, keep in mind that PP LIVE Dollars can be used to pay for any travel expenses!
Now, once you’re settled, we recommend going around to Mutek, an international festival that serves EDM on an audiovisual background – an unbelievable experience! It runs from August 22nd to August 26th. Check out the full program and host locations here.
Towards the end of the WSOP-C Playground, if you need to clear your mind before or after Day 2 of the Main Event and feel like dancing in the streets, treat yourself to the MEG Montréal Festival. From August 30th to September 2nd, the Quartier des Spectacles transforms into an electronica, hip-hop and indie party!
Of course, there is much more to Montreal than music festivals. For more complete activity suggestions, consult our Travel Guide to Montreal. Pay special attention to “Number 2 – A foodie’s paradise,” which will educate you on all the best places to eat, and “Number 3 – Montreal Nightlife,” a piece that will give you an extensive list of the coolest places to have a drink and flash your new Circuit Ring!
Kristen Bicknell, a frequent Playground Poker Club visitor, has a few recommendations of her own about our city:
“If you need a break from the poker table, check out my favourite nearby spa, the Strom spa.”
“Every time I’m in Montreal, I make an effort to have brunch at my favourite spot, le Cartet.”
“Construction and traffic can be a challenge sometimes, so give yourself plenty of time to make sure you aren’t late for any tournaments when driving to Playground Poker!”
Playground Poker Club and the city of Montreal are extremely excited to welcome players from around the world for the first WSOP-C Playground. Book your flight, hotel, and make plans for your time away from the poker tables. We’ll be ready!
