2018 has been a huge year in the poker world, and the year is concluding with a bang with MILLIONS Online on partypoker! We previewed the $5,300 MTT last week, and with Sunday’s Day 1A now in the books, it’s becoming clear that the event is delivering on its promise to be the largest single online MTT in history!
Day 1A ran on Sunday November 25th and featured a total of 1,574 entries, which got the tournament off to a great start by contributing almost $8M to the prize pool. There’s still a long way to go to reach the ambitious $20,000,000 Guarantee, but with the amazing feeders and Mega satellites underway every day, there’s plenty of opportunity left for players to join the event for much less than the $5,300 buy-in amount.
Through the 18 levels of play on Day 1A, the 1,574 entries were whittled down to just 230 Day 2 qualifiers. The chip leader following Day 1A is Phil Gruissem, who has amassed almost 27M in chips – from a 1,000,000 starting stack – and will start Day 2 with 224bb!
When play wrapped up on Day 1A there were 29 Canadians still left in the field, including a few players we’ve seen frequently at Playground in the past few years: Alexis Urli (14th place, 14,406,974 chips), Michael Watson (29th place, 11,541,000 chips), and David Baba (31st place, 11,308,151 chips).
There are also a few all-world players still in the field, including Chris Moorman (10th place, 15,374,000 chips), Viktor “Isildur1” Blom (110th place, 6,303,392 chips), and partypoker Pro Joao Simao (164th place, 4,011,108 chips).
