Last week we rolled out a slew of promotions for the month of October as well as a series of Entertainment shows, a first in Playground history.
The party starts this Friday, October 4 with Rod Stewart and Tom Jones tributes by Forever Young and Dave LaFame and continues Saturday with Night Fever paying homage to the Bee Gees.
Throughout the rest of the month, our stage will feature tributes to some of the biggest names in music: Eagles, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Elton John and a tribute to the British Invasion with the Hi-Fins. Finally, fight fans will get to watch the WCA Strikers Series bring their combat sport to our club’s arena.
In much the same way our poker events give local players an opportunity to shine on a bigger stage, a different kind of stage will give some local talent the chance to perform their music to a broader audience.
The Better Half Acoustic Duo will be starting things off this Saturday night, leading the way to Night fever’s tribute to the Bee Gees. This duo features John Murray and Sandra Giguère, two singer-songwriters from Hudson, Quebec. Their first album Alibis was released in the spring of 2018 and their follow-up is in the works. Regulars on the West Island music scene, they’ve been keeping the area’s pub and bar patrons happy for a few years.
The following Friday, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, Less Than 4 will deliver a memorable and interactive opening set prior to One of These Nights’ tribute to the Eagles. With hundreds of classic songs in their repertoire, these veterans of the Montreal music scene keep it simple, fun and entertaining. You’ll be singing along before they are done!
The final weekend of shows at Playground will start Friday with local legend Steve Creep before Fresh Horses and Shania pay tribute to Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. If you’re a regular of the many bars and pubs in downtown Montreal, odds are you have had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Creep perform. With over 800 songs in his repertoire, we are sure you will hear something you like!
So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! We hope to see you having a good time in October watching the world-renowned tribute acts and some of the local talent Playground will have the pleasure of showcasing.
