The MILLIONS North America has has brought players from all around the world to Playground in droves, leading to a huge volume of cash games running around the clock. The unrelenting action has produced lots of exciting moments over the course of the first week of the festival, but some lucky players on table 13 just took things to another level. Celebrations erupted moments ago when the poker gods smiled on that particular table and delivered the third Bad Beat Jackpot of the week!
Here is how the big hand played out: It started with a straddle, followed by a double straddle on a 5/5 Pot Limit Omaha table, one of four that was running at the time. There was an opening raise to $75 that picked up four callers, creating a juicy five-way pot. The flop fell , and the action promptly checked around, giving the players a free turn card. The turn produced, as the players would soon discover, the card they all wanted to see in the . On the turn, the action checked to Daniel Ross who made a bet of $150. The bet chased two players out of the way before the action came to Maxime Heroux, who check-raised to $575, forcing another player to fold before Daniel made the call. Daniel and Maxime went to the river heads-up and watched the hit the table before the chips went in. Maxime led out with a bet of $300, Daniel raised all in for $1,361 and Maxime quickly called. They tabled their hands to confirm what all the players at the table were hoping for. Daniel showed for quad queens, while Maxime had for quad nines. They hit the Bad Beat Jackpot!
Even though the Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot had been hit only a few days earlier, the huge number of Omaha cash tables running this week had brought the jackpot up to $18,690. Maxime, the loser of the hand, will receive $7,102, Daniel will get $3,551, while the other players at the table will each receive $591 and the 23 other Omaha players in the room will take $154. Congratulations to all!
Following another Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot and a Secondary Bad Beat Jackpot awarded on a Hold’em table earlier this week, this was the third jackpot hand of week and the second of the MILLIONS festival! During last year’s festival, six Bad Beat Jackpots were awarded. Could the 2019 edition of the MILLIONS North America break that record? Come down to Playground to find out for yourself!
