The World Cup Of Cards 2020, A Huge Hit!

The 2020 edition of the World Cup of Cards featured 22 successful events. With a variety of game types and tournament structures to choose from, this series had a little something for everyone and attracted players from far and wide.

The $200 + $20 Grand Prix Canada was the marquee event of the 2020 World Cup of Cards, featuring a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. This epic event was presented in conjunction with partypoker LIVE and five online starting flights were presented on partypoker. Along with the 10 live Day 1s at Playground, this edition of the Grand Prix Canada collected 2,990 entries, which was more than enough to surpass the massive prize pool guarantee. The Grand Prix Canada champion, Alexandre Fournier, earned $70,800 for taking down this epic event.

The $150 + $25 Strangers in the Night, was a great success, attracting a total of 525 entries from four starting flights. The tournament buy-in established prize pool, while the additional $25 from each entry was given to the Strangers in the Night charity foundation. That means that $13,125 was raised for charity! Greg Stringer came out on top to earn $14,362.

The $1,000 + $100 Playground 1000 was the biggest buy-in of the series. It attracted 464 entries across three starting flights, which was enough to surpass the $400,000 prize pool guarantee. Noeung Troeung navigated his way through the shark-filled waters in this event with three days of world-class play to emerge as the champion to win $63,450.

The $100 + $10 Playground 100 was the most affordable multi-day event of the series. It proved its drawing power thanks to 743 entries and easily surpassed the $50,000 guarantee. Sébastien Drolet-Poitras rose to the top after three days of play to take down the Playground 100 and pocket $13,451.

To go along with all the successful tournaments, the World Cup of Cards also delivered great cash game action throughout the series. As Playground event veterans know, Bad Beat Jackpots tend to hit during these times, and World Cup of Cards did not disappoint! Thanks to not only one but two huge BBJs, thousands were awarded to a handful of lucky players.

As of Wednesday, September 1, 2021, ′Proof of Vaccination′ (′Vaccine Passport′) will be required for all guests entering the Playground Complex, including The Rail Coal Fire Bistro. This decision was made by the Public Safety Commission of Kahnawake and the MCK and applies to all non-essential businesses within the community of Kahnawake.
