Great night for a BBJ
Last night at 11:48PM, our Bad Beat Jackpot Omaha was hit! The Jackpot had grown to a nice $69,999, more than enough to have a significant impact on the evening of all players on the $2/$2 PLO table where it happened. The event took place on table 15, in the cashier section where most PLO games are played. Eight players were going at it straddle style, and this hand was no exception. The $5 straddle was called once before Danielle made it $20 to go. Nathaly was the first to call, and four other players did the same, creating a juicy pot of $120. Flop: Five players checked, but Nathaly couldn’t give the crowd a free card. She threw in a modest $30 bet, and the action was folded around to Danielle who made the call. Turn: Both ladies checked, seemingly projecting weakness, but the observers were still hoping. The […]
$4,000,000 Milestone!
$4M in Jackpots! The Electronic Gaming Space recently reached a new milestone payout that brought the total amount awarded through jackpots to over $4,000,000! Since electronic gaming was initially added to Playground’s offerings in December 2018, the machines have awarded countless jackpots, creating many happy players in the process. There have been plenty of five-figure payouts awarded since the doors first opened, but a couple stand out in memory. Both coincided with perpetually popular Playground poker events; the World Cup of Cards and the Power Weekend. The longtime EGD jackpot record was held by Franco S, who was playing Eternal Lotus in the wee hours of the morning on February 2, near the end of the 2019 edition of the World Cup of Cards. Franco’s $8.80 bet brought four identical symbols together to unleash a huge jackpot of $28,791.93! Franco’s record stood until early summer when it was surpassed […]

A legend gets his own signature whiskey
Larry and his whiskey Our Director of Charitable Initiatives, Larry Robinson, was on site this week to autograph bottles of his limited-edition whisky. Created through a partnership between the Alumni Association and J.P. Wiser, this premium, collectible Canadian whisky was created with Larry’s playing style and numerous notable achievements in mind. Big and smooth, true to the Big Bird’s legacy as a dominant defenceman for the Montreal Canadiens, and aged in six barrels, one for each of the Stanley Cup rings Larry won with le tricolore, this whisky is something to behold. Fifteen local players make the money in the WSOP Main Event
On behalf of the Playground team, we would like to congratulate the fifteen quebecers who have made the money in the World Series of Poker Main Event! As usual, players traveled from all around the world to Las Vegas en masse for the Main Event. This year’s field came in at 8,569 runners, the second largest in WSOP history, to put an $80,548,600 prize pool on the line. The strong showing by local players shows the high caliber and elevated status of poker in Quebec, something that Playground is proud to be a part of. Join us in wishing these local players the best of luck and success in their quest to follow in Jonathan Duhamel’s footsteps and bring the most prestigious prize in poker back to Quebec. There are still 354 players left in the running in the Main Event. David Guay leads the three remaining quebecers with a […]
New MyGame capabilities on partypoker
On June 17, partypoker introduced major changes to their client that included the disabling of downloadable hand histories to enhance fair play on their site, as part of their mission to create the safest and fairest place to play online poker. In order to provide players with information that will help them plug leaks and sharpen their game, partypoker introduced the MyGame feature. Located within the main client, this feature is an interactive coaching tool that ranks players according to several criteria and provides a scorecard that summarizes their performance at the tables. In short, MyGame provides everything a player needs to take their game to the next level. MyGame provides a detailed report card that breaks down all aspects of your game. Based on game optimal theory, the report card gives you feedback on key statistics, stealing and blind defence, three- and four-betting, post-flop aggression, and showdowns. When it […]
