With MILLIONS North America in town, we are witnessing a huge spike in Jackpots. So far this week, two poker Jackpots and countless EGD Jackpots were hit, sending legions of players back home with unalterable smiles. Last year during MILLIONS, 6 poker Jackpots were hit… in 6 days! Of course there is no way to know when the next one will burst, but being here sure increases your odds! A $13,604.31 EGD Jackpot! Since the beginning of the week, the biggest EGD Jackpot was hit by a gentleman called Roch. He was playing 5 Treasures, a title featuring 6 Free Games that can be endlessly re-triggered. The game features outstanding Chinese artwork, but the best part is the 4 progressive Jackpot levels. You can watch the amounts grow as you play! Roch was betting $1.76 per spin and got into Free Game mode, and one of those games […]

Flaming Hot in Cuba
The Rum and Coke drink was created in Cuba in the early 20th century, when Coca-Cola started exporting their sugary soft drink to the country. The drink’s traditional name, Cuba Libre (Free Cuba), is a reminder of the strong American presence in Cuba in those years. It wasn’t long before the Cuba Libre made its way north to the United States, and from there everywhere in the world. The drink, simply made with rum, cola, ice, and served with a lime wedge, reminds of hot Cuba and the warm summer nights by the beach. The icy Rum and Coke may be of great help when playing Flaming Hot, a game that will make you sweat! Five reels with 4 positions each will take you to a world of fruits punctuated with dollar signs, bars, and of course, 7s! The true fire comes on when five 7 symbols line up on […]
MILLIONS produces its first Bad Beat Jackpot
Last night at 12:50AM, the Secondary Bad Beat Jackpot hit on a $2/$5 Hold’em table. This is the first poker Jackpot produced by MILLIONS North America frantic action. As we know, the increased traffic during a festival never misses to cause a good number of Jackpots to hit. Last year during MILLIONS, no less than SIX JACKPOTS were hit… in 6 days! Let’s hope we surpass that tally in 2019. Let’s take a look at the simple play-by-play that spread $25,000 on table 9: After one player limped, Frederick Seiffert raised to $20. George Finkelstein called the bet, and so did 2 more players, including the limper. Flop: Three checks took place before Vladimir Georgescu-Mangiurea placed a $75 bet. Frederick, the initial raiser, called, and George went all-in for $106. Both players involved in the action called. On the turn, Vladimir pushed $200 forward. Frederic shoved his own stack for […]
A new EGD Jackpot record!
A new record! Last weekend at Playground, at the heart of the May Power Weekend, a new Jackpot record was set in our Electronic Gaming space. Guylaine Gregory was casually spinning one of our Quick Hit games, arguably the most popular title on the floor, when an avalanche of Quick Hit symbols surged to her screen. She had just won $37,532.50! The record of the biggest EGD Jackpot won at Playground was previously owned by Franco S. and Eternal Lotus, another great title. On February 2, Franco pocketed $28,791.93, a 3-month-long record holder. Last Saturday, however, Guylaine and her husband changed all that. At 10:42PM, Guylaine became the biggest EGD winner to date. Champagne and confetti ensued, and the couple posed in front of Playground’s steed. Congratulations! MILLIONS North America is here! For many players, the long Road to MILLIONS began in early December when the STEP satellite […]
Cool drinks and hot games – a winning combination
Named after a beach near Santiago de Cuba, the daiquiri family of cocktails traces their origins to the turn of the twentieth century. Since their creation, they have only gained popularity with each passing year and now have a global status as cool, refreshing drinks that are ideal in the hot summer months. Playground’s drink menu features the strawberry daiquiri, available with or without rum, and it should be your drink of choice when things start heating up. Much like the daiquiri, the pin-up model has iconic status in twentieth century culture; they are attention grabbing, easily recognized and have inspired some of Playground’s many exciting offerings. The Pin Up Queens title brings exciting 5-reel action across 30 fixed lines where features like Stacked Symbols and Free Spins can lead to huge payouts! The classic imagery will take you back to a bygone era but the potential of a top […]
Thumbelina’s Dream gives out this week’s biggest Jackpot!
Fairies are Wild Last Sunday was a busy day in Playground’s Electronic Gaming space. It is always great to see the room full of action, and greater when the weekend produces a lot of Jackpots. Roger T. is certainly no stranger to EGD Jackpots. He has won a few in the past, but the size of this one will certainly make him remember it. Roger was playing Thumbelina’s Dream, a game based on the classic Danish fairy tale story. Birds, mice, frogs, and of course, fairies, team up to present a whimsical experience in bright colours! At 12:21PM, fairies invaded Roger’s screen. Fairies are Wild, and so was Roger’s Jackpot: $11,250! Congratulations! The Final STEPS… The Power Weekend is a mini-series of poker tournaments designed to give players the opportunity to play poker in a world-class setting without breaking the bank. This mini-series is also your last chance […]
A Royal Match
Crown Royal is a Canadian whiskey that was first introduced in 1939 as a tribute to British royalty, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, who were then touring around Canada. It is now the best-selling Canadian whiskey in the United States, and an important ingredient of countless alcoholic concoctions, including the famous Crown and ginger. Versailles Gold, a game that transports you to Renaissance France, is a 5-reel game with symbols of King Louis, his gorgeous Queen, his Advisor, and the King’s Sun. The latter is a Wild Symbol that substitutes for all other symbols. During Free Spins – where the money is! – a random symbol is selected and acts as a special expanding symbol, multiplying wins at an exponential rate. This week at Playground, we match British and French royalty! Sit down at one of our multi-game EGDs, select Versailles Gold, and order a free Crown and ginger. […]
Quick Hit keeps giving
Quick Hit strikes again This week’s big winner in the Electronic Gaming space is Michael V. The young man came to play last Friday with two of his buddies, and the party of three was spinning in the far left section. Michael was sitting at a Quick Hit machine with a max bet of $0.05 per line. At 8:33PM, his screen filled with Fever symbols and Bar symbols, and a message appeared on his screen: Jackpot Call Attendant. Michael had just won $7,548.50! Understandably, he gave us his greatest smile… way to go Michael! Burger Week 2.0 Burger Week was so popular that we decided to extend it! For another full week, you can order any burger you want and upgrade your side for free! Sweet potato fries, Caesar salad, onion rings, poutine, loaded baked potato… pick your favourite! For Burger Week 2.0, we would like to dare […]
The Tournament Leaderboard evolves
The Tournament Leaderboard is the oldest promotion at Playground. Around since 2011, it allows tournament players to compete at a higher level than just the tournament at hand by creating an interesting monthly metagame. In the recent past, the top 40 players on the monthly Leaderboard received a ticket to one of our various MILLIONS North America STEP satellites, but with that event upon us, it is time to give the grandfather of Playground promotions an evolutionary boost and renew the prize structure! Starting in May, players will compete for 40 instant prizes paid out in Playground Tournament Dollars! What are Playground T$? A currency that you can use to buy into any Playground tournament, no exception. The month of May is extremely event-heavy with a Power Weekend and MILLIONS, and counts only 12 days of regular schedule, which represents too few tournaments to create a nice race. It is […]
Local player shines overseas
Local player wins at the Irish Open We always feel great pride when a Canadian player has success abroad. Brigitte Métivier, a regular at Playground, took down early this morning the €250 Ladies’ Event at the 2019 Irish Open. There were 70 runners in the tournament, but in the end, only Métivier was left, and she was able to scoop the Ladies’ Event trophy and the €4,610 first prize. Well done! The Lotus grants a 5-figure Jackpot Last Monday, Carmen N. came to Playground with her husband for some late-night fun on the Electronic Gaming Devices. She was playing one of our most popular games, Eternal Lotus, the game that holds the current record for the biggest EGD Jackpot awarded at Playground – $28,791.93. The lotus had a little surprise in store for Carmen. On the same spin, a perfect blend of gold coins and lotus symbols appeared […]
Coal-fired action
A walk in the park! Michel Hiron came to Playground on Saturday with a whole entourage. The party of 5 came for a night of entertainment, and entertainment they found! Michel was mixing it up on one of our multi-game EGDs. He went into free game mode, and at exactly 11:08PM, his machine prompted him to call an attendant: he had just won $3,691.06! When posing for the camera, moments after his big hit, Michel gave us this amazing look as if to say: “That was easy!” Sevens a-blazin’! Wednesday night, Sylvain Groulx was playing a variation of the Quick Hit game called Quick Hit Platinum Triple Blazing 7s. Sylvain was spinning, and sevens were blazing! He went straight into free game mode, and caught a $3,768.65 Jackpot! A wrap and a slice On April 14, the Sunday PLO event gets a boost. The buy-in, normally at […]
Juggling fruits with a glass of sangria
Snow never fails to fall in spring, but that’s behind us now. Nice weather is here, and as we let the sunshine in, our drinks evolve… and what concoction screams nice weather louder than sangria? Today, we wish to present you with the first of our EGD/drink pairing series! Sangria is traditionally prepared with red wine, soda, juice and fresh fruits. Most linguists attribute the name’s origin to the Spanish word sangre, which means blood, referencing the colour of the drink. Little is known about the origins of the drink itself, but much is known about the different ways to prepare it! The exact recipe of Playground’s sangria remains a secret – sorry! – but some ingredients can be revealed: red wine and fruits. Our Electronic Gaming space is no stranger to fruits, as you might imagine, but none puts them forth better than 5 Juggle Fruits, a game as […]
