Series Wrap-up: PokerStars Canada Cup 2014
The 2014 PokerStars Canada Cup has wrapped up in historic fashion at Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, QC. The series, held from May 16th to 28th, offered poker players 12 events, including the $3,300 Main Event, the $10,400 High Roller, and the always huge $150 Re-entry kickoff event that got the ball rolling over two weeks ago. Overall, the PokerStars Canada Cup was a big success as over 3,200 players competed for over $2.8M in prizes over the course of the 13-day series. The biggest surprise in the whole series came at the end of the Main Event. Play on the final table started quickly, with the first elimination of the day coming just 4 hands into the day, and it proceeded quickly enough through eliminations in 9th through 5th place. When play got down to 4 players, though, things slowed to a crawl as two players Robert Notkin and Vincent […]

The 97 seats includes an amazing 25 seats that were ADDED to the prize pool by partypoker! The action was quick at the outset of Day 2, but slowed down considerably as the bubble approached. By the end of the action, blinds had risen to 6K/12K with a 1K ante. When play dropped to 101 players the tournament moved to hand-for-hand action, but with more than 10 tables still active, things continued to move relatively briskly. After just a couple of hands there were two players who busted on the same hand to share the first $400 bubble prize and just […]

On the last hand, Derrick put in a minimum raise from the small blind, and quickly called when Mukul moved in over the top. […]
Sorel Mizzi wins the Premier League!
Partypoker’s Premier League VII has come to an end and Canadian Sorel Mizzi is the champion! The high-roller specialist won by outlasting 5 other players on the final table to take the title. At the end of the 6 heats, the top point-getters of the 12 players who started the Premier League were Dan Colman and Jeff Gross with 37 points each followed by Sorel (33 pts) and Brian Rast (31 pts). Koon and Seiver joined them in the final by beating out Daniel Cates and Jonathan Duhamel respectively. In the final, Brian was the first to go out followed by Jason a few orbits of the table later. Just two hands after Koon hit the showers, Seiver was also eliminated, making this a 3-way tournament after just the 61st hand of the night. At this point Sorel was already the big chip leader, and after Dan went out in […]
