Event #4 of the Playground 9-Year Anniversary Series was the $200 + $20 PL Omaha Re-entry tournament, always a favourite for those who love action. There was a $7,000 guaranteed prize pool and when the late registration period came to a close, there were 44 entries in total (including 11 re-entries) which allowed the prize pool to grow to $8,536. Action was the word of the evening as players were getting it in with draws, hoping to hit. The first elimination happened within the first five minutes of play, but with the re-entry format, the players were able to try their luck as often as they pleased. At the first break of the evening Maxime Flibotte-Blanchard took the lead and held on to it through the second break. David St-Louis was also on the first leaderboard and by the second break he was right behind Flibotte-Blanchard, in second place. As […]

Megastack Turbo Re-entry Champion: Silvio La Palerma
Event #3 of Playground’s 9-Year Anniversary Series, the $100 + $10 Megastack Turbo Re-entry, brought out a large field of players that contributed a total of 96 entries to this single-day event. The prize pool guarantee of $5,000 was easily surpassed, as over $9,000 in prizes was awarded to the top 12 players. Throughout the afternoon, many different players had turns as the chip leader, as nobody was able to hang on to that lead for very long. The turbo structure kept the chips moving around the tables at a brisk pace, putting most players on a white-knuckled ride just to keep pace with the blinds. So it was only fitting that the two players who managed to stay on the leaderboard for most of the afternoon, Mathieu Legault and Silvio La Palerma, would meet in a heads-up battle at the final table. Legault, who emerged victorious in Event #2 […]
6-Max Re-entry Champion: Mathieu Legault
Event #2 of the 9-Year Anniversary series, the $100 + $10 6-Max Re-entry was a great success. This one day tournament garnered a total of 79 entries and was full of action. The field was quickly reduced to the final table but once there the pace of play slowed dramatically as pay jumps got bigger and the players set their sights on the championship. After Yasser Zaatar was eliminated in fifth, the final four players asked the floor to pause the clock and they agreed to an ICM deal as followed: Michael Mickelson – $1,090 Silvio La Palerma – $1,190 Christian Rho – $1,420 Mathieu Legault – $1,380 This deal would award an additional $255 for the winner. Michael Mickelson and Silvio La Palerma busted out quickly after the fifth break, leaving Christian Rho and Mathieu Legault to battle it out for the top spot. Once heads-up, Rho and Legault […]
Playground 500 Champion: Samuel Roussy-Majeau
The Playground 500 was the marquee event of the November Power Weekend. Guaranteed at $100,000, it was sure to put together a great payout table. 166 entries were accounted for over one online Day 1 on partypoker and three live flights at Playground, meaning that players even enjoyed a nice overlay on the prize pool. Nothing like an equity bonus! The online Day 1 brought 19 players together and from that number, only 3 remained, including our champion Samuel Roussy-Majeau, the only player to have re-entered the flight. After all 3 live flights were concluded, a total of 43 players had stacks waiting for them on today’s Day 2. The action went underway at 3:00pm this afternoon and 10 levels of 45 minutes were scheduled, but only 3 players remained after these 10 levels and they understandably agreed to play it out, giving themselves a nice Sunday off to enjoy […]
