On table 34, there was a limp before Marc-Antoine Plaisance raised it up to 4200, which was met by a flat call by Fayez Assouad. When action reached Jerry Kim in late position, he moved his chips forward signalling an all-in. There were snap calls by both Plaisance and Assouad.

The cards were tabled and it was a classic bounty tournament race:

Kim: Ace of Hearts King of Hearts
Plaisance: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds
Assouad: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

The flop came 3 of Clubs Queen of Diamonds 9 of Spades and Plaisance moved into the lead, flopping a Queen. The turn was the 5 of Hearts and the river was the 5 of Clubs, and since Plaisance covered Kim’s stack, he picked up a bounty chip along with a whole bunch of chips. Assouad lucklily had chipped up earlier so he is still in the game with a playable stack. A classic example of the best hand(s) not winning the race.

    Marc-Antoine Plaisance
