The bustouts have been happening left and right and the tournament is now down to 25 players, with a table re-draw about to happen after the next bustout. The players are guaranteed $7,000 right now, with the next pay jump taking place at 18 players, which will be worth $8,500. That being said, everyone still in are in the running for the top prize of $200,000, along with the Champion’s trophy and the bragging rights attached to the win.

There will be a break in about 30 minutes, and at that time we will be able to provide the updated leaderboard, but at the moment, Scott Montgomery is in the lead sitting on 135M+, followed by Tyler Smillie with 119M+, Niko Koop with 100M+, and Eric Afriat with 90M+.

Some of the recent bustouts include: Griffin Ristevski, Hugo Dumoulin, Samuel Bantocvk, Kelly Minkin, Shawn Daigle, Sean Satar, Samuel Chartier, Felix Sides, Roger Lamia, and Nicolas Majdalani, to just name a few.

The action continues in level 32 of the Montreal Open, following the first break of the day.

The players are looking focused and determined; only 32 players remain, and they are each assured of at least $6,000 in prize money, but all eyes are set on the six-figure prizes at the top of the leaderboard.

As Event #2 is now down to 53 players, the pay jumps are starting to become more important as each time a player ladders up they will earn at least an extra $1,000.

Arriving at table 64, action had folded to to Stephane Blouin-Verroeulst in the small blind, and he was tanking and threw in a time card (the shot clock is in play allowing players only 30 seconds to make their decision; each player has 6 additional time cards which they can use when ever they want to extend the clock another 30 seconds) as he started looking at the other tables to see if there were any bustouts. There were 56 players left at the time and 55th would pay out an additional $1,000.

Finally he decided that it was “now or never” and he announced that he was all in for just over 6,000,000. Thomas Lefort, a solid local player with 36 cashes on The Hendon Mob, sitting in the big blind with over 30,000,000, made the call.

Blouin-Verroeulst: King of Clubs 8 of Hearts
Lefort: King of Spades 6 of Hearts

The board ran out Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts 3 of Spades 4 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds and Blouin-Verroeulst had his badly needed double up, and made the next pay jump as there was a bustout on another table.

As fate would have it, a few hands later, Danny Kalpakis opened to 1,600,000, only to have John Kaley shove for a little bit more than 30,000,000.  Blouin-Verroeuls was feeling the rush of the last double-up and decided to make the call.

Kaley: King of Spades King of Clubs
Blouin-Verroeuls: King of Hearts Queen of Hearts

It was not looking good for Blouin-Verroeuls and the board run out didn’t offer him any help at all, so he hit the rail, $1,000 wealthier than he would have been 15 minutes earlier on.

    Day 3 action is underway!

    May 21, 2019 | 12:22pm | Playground

Event #2 on the MILLIONS North America, the $1,000 + $100 Montreal Open, will play to its conclusion this afternoon.

Over the course of seven Day 1 flights, this event garnered 1,536 entries and created a massive prize pool in the process, easily exceeding the seven-figure guarantee. A total of 473 players advanced stacks to Day 2, which played through 12 levels yesterday to reduce the field to only 62 players. Those who remain in contention are assured a cash of at least $4,000, but all eyes are set on the big money at the top of the prize list. The 15 finalists will be awarded $10,000 + $300 seats to the MILLIONS Main Event in addition to their prize money, while a prize of $200,000 awaits the champion.

    Good luck to all!
