Day 1E of the Playground 100, the turbo flight of this multi-day event, brought out a field of 133 entries. The players hit the ground running this afternoon, as the early levels were full of wild action. Everyone realized that they would have to put chips in play early and often to stay out ahead of the blinds in this flight, which helped generate 26 re-entries before the end of the late registration period.
Although Roberto Anzini jumped out to an early lead, it was Jean Lamoureux who led the way for most of this flight. Lamoureux controlled a huge stack of roughly triple the chip average from level 9 until the late stages of play. The rapid pace of elimination slowed after the third break. The field reached hand for hand play in level 21 and this is where Vladislav Gulii rose to the top of the heap. Gulii stayed aggressive on the money bubble and was able to build his stack up to 428,500, giving him the largest stack from this flight.
Congratulations to the final 14 who will advance to Day 2, which will be held tomorrow at 3:00pm.
