Day 1K of the $200 + $20 Grand Prix Canada has wrapped up in a dramatic fashion. Two players at two separate tables busted at the same time as play went hand for hand in level 18. Because there are now only 24 players advancing to Day 2, the two eliminated competitors were awarded min-cash.

Ryan Garonce doubled his stack from the last break to end the day with 2,612,000. Garonce had a steady day in the top five but he was able to knock out a few players and secure the top spot.

Tomorrow is the final day of starting flights for the marquee event of the Playground 9-Year Anniversary Series. Day 1L starts at 11:00am, Day 1M at 4:00pm, and Day 1N Turbo at 7:30pm. Don’t miss out on your chance at a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000! 

The tension is certainly rising as only 34 players remain. Three players have joined the millionaires club since the last break as the bigger stacks have been succeeding in applying the pressure.

Richard Berenbaum moves to first with a stack of 75 big blinds. The other two millionaires are Ryan Garonce, who has maintained his spot in second, and Jacques Bigonesse.

As the clock ticks down on level 14, 50 players remain in contention. Half of the field will be eliminated before the final 25 will be in the money. At this point the smaller stacks are becoming concerned about blinding down, resulting in a lot of all ins across the room.

Late registration has now closed and level 11 has commenced.  It has been determined that from the 173 entries (including 51 re-entries), the top 25 players will be in the money and qualify for Day 2.

Evan Tan has taken a large lead over his competitors with a staggering 665,000 in chips. Ryan Garonce sits comfortably in second with a stack of 105 big blinds.

New players and re-entries have been trickling in all night with hopes of building their stacks to qualify for Day 2. There are still 30 minutes left before the late registration period will close at 11:20pm.

Here’s a look at who’s still in contention.

Play has resumed after the break into level 6 with a total of 131 entries, including 21 re-entries. Krzysztof Birecki has taken a commanding lead with a stack of over 187 big blinds. Jacques Bigonesse follows in second with an impressive chip count of 320,000.

Day 1K is off to a great start as play enters level 3 with 75 entries so far. There is still plenty of time to join as the late registration and re-entry period will be open until the beginning of level 11 at 11:20pm.

Welcome to Day 1K of the $200 + $20 Grand Prix Canada. This is the one of the few remaining starting flights for this event which guarantees a prize pool of $500,000. Find the combined Day 1 results here to see who has already qualified for Day 2 on Sunday, December 15 at 1:00pm.

Today’s event is a turbo flight that will start competitors with 100,000 in chips. They will play 10-handed through 20-minute levels until the number of remaining players has been reduced to 1 in 7 entries, at which point the money will be reached.

This is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration period at the beginning of level 11. Re-
entry is permitted for anyone that loses their chips or chooses to forfeit their stack. Players who qualify for Day 2 more than once will resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack.
