Event #2 of the 9-Year Anniversary series, the $100 + $10 6-Max Re-entry, was a great success. This one-day tournament garnered a total of 79 entries and was full of action. The field was quickly reduced to the final table but once there the pace of play slowed dramatically as pay jumps got bigger and the players set their sights on the championship.

After Yasser Zaatar was eliminated in fifth, the final four players asked the floor to pause the clock and they agreed to an ICM deal as followed:

• Michael Mickelson – $1,090
• Silvio La Palerma – $1,190
• Christian Rho – $1,420
• Mathieu Legault – $1,380

This deal would award an additional $255 for the winner.

Michael Mickelson and Silvio La Palerma busted out quickly after the fifth break, leaving Christian Rho and Mathieu Legault to battle it out for the top spot.

Once heads-up, Rho and Legault played a few hands and moved their chips back and forth before Rho went all in with a . Legault decided to call with a and ended up victorious with a pair of nines as the board read . Legault was awarded $1635 and Rho came in second with $1420.

It’s down to the final four as play resumes after the fourth break. Diego Aguilar and Cole Skye had quick eliminations simultaneously after going all-in. Aguilar went home with $430 in seventh and Skye with $540 in sixth.

Yasser Zaatar found himself in a similar situation and went all in pre-flop against Silvio La Palerma. While both players had an ace, La Palerma came out on top with a jack, ending Zaatar’s run. Zaatar finished with $690 in earnings.

And just like that it’s down to seven after Philippe Belley went all in pre-flop against Christian Rho.

Rho came out victorious with three of a kind, leaving Belley to go home with $330.

A seating redraw has taken place to fit all players at the final table which will be played 7-handed.

As the clocked ticked down on level 15, the two tables played hand for hand and the action came to a standstill until the bubble finally burst. The remaining ten players are guaranteed to go home with at least $210 but everyone is hoping for the top prize of $1,793.

11 remain and the tension is high. Only ten players will be in the money, so naturally play has slowed. Mathieu Legault is the current leader after winning a huge hand before the third break. He has a stack of 67 big blinds. Christian Rho moved into second spot and Diego Aguilar is hanging on in third.

The tournament is now in the final stretch with only 17 players remaining. Players are making considerable moves in order to secure a top ten spot and get in the money. Diego Aguilar fell behind after leading at the first break but after winning a big hand with a straight, he is certainly one of the current leaders. 

The tension is rising as only 22 players remain after the second break. Ryan Lavarnway has taken the lead with an impressive stack of 111 big blinds. It seems to be anyone’s game now as the field narrows to just four tables and the players hone in on a top 10 spot.

Play has resumed into level seven and late registration is now closed. Diego Aguilar currently holds the top spot with a stack of over 153 big blinds. Francis Larose is close behind in second with a stack that doubles the chip average.

42 players remain in contention for the top prize, things are about to get interesting!

Play is underway as level four comes to an end. Although things got off to a slow start, new players and re-entries keep filing in for this exciting single-day event. There are currently 50 entries, a figure helped along by 4 re-entries. The late registration period will close in one hour at 2:15pm, so don’t miss out!

Welcome to the $100 + $10 6-Max Re-entry Grand Prix Canada, the second event of Playground’s ninth anniversary series. Today is a single day event that boasts a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000. Players begin with 20,000 in chips and play through 20-minute blind levels.

The tournament will be played 6-handed until seven players remain to make up the final table. This is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration at 2:15pm before the beginning of level seven. Re-entry is permitted for any player that loses all their chips or chooses to forfeit their stack.
