The third installment of the Playground Women’s Series, Event #3, started at noon and attracted a total of 62 entries. The large turnout pushed today’s prize pool to $8,401. The atmosphere was pleasant while the players enjoyed some really good poker action as they battled to make it to the final table. After the blind levels increased to 30 minutes in length, patience was the word of the day as players waited to find the best possible spots before getting their chips into the middle. Women’s Series Event #2 Champion: Denise Lépine
Event #2 of the Women’s series was a massive hit again this month, attracting 81 entries who battled it out for more than 13 hours of play. There was some top talent here today from near and far, with players from Ontario as well as New York Sate and Vermont taking part. The structure of the four open events allows for really deep play throughout the 30-minute blind levels; the women were here to play some serious poker! Thanks to the huge turnout, the $5,000 prize pool guarantee was easily exceeded, awarding $10,975 to the top 11 players, with payouts ranging from $240 to $2,705 for the champion. WPT Montreal Recap
The 2019 edition of the WPT Montreal , the last major festival of the year, kept up with the WPT’s winning tradition and was a resounding success! The series, which ran from October 20 to November 4, included seven official WPT events as well as four Playground events and a plethora of satellites that allowed many players to take a shot at the big buy-in events for only a fraction of the cost. In all, the official WPT events awarded $5,970,632 in prizes! The $500 + $50 WPT500 brought out an impressive field. This event guaranteed a prize pool of $1,066,000, awarding a million in cash and 20 $3,000 + $300 seats to the Main Event. The first open event of the Playground Women’s Series guaranteed prize pool of $5,000 but awarded far more! The tournament attracted a total of 80 entries, including 12 re-entries, which helped to more than double the prize pool guarantee and put the top 10 finishers in the money. In addition to the cash prizes for each open event, the top 5 finishers in each open tournament receive a direct entry into the Final. The top 10 point earners for the series (not including those who qualify automatically) will also receive an entry in the Final. Throughout the afternoon, the atmosphere in the tournament hall was friendly but competitive, and there was some top-notch poker on display.
