The final hand may have determined the winner of the WCC Event #13 Deepstack Turbo, but the writing was on the wall several hands earlier when Ernest Kelly hit the full house to fatally wound Eric Perrier. When Eric went in with pocket tens, , his odds of winning the pot looked pretty sound. But Ernest’s hole cards were , and when the community cards were dealt, , Ernest won 90 percent of Eric’s stack. Although Eric valiantly attempted to battle back, Ernest’s big stack was just too much of a hurdle to overcome. When the last hand was played, Ernest raised all in with and Eric called. His hole cards were . But the community cards were on Ernest’s side as they came down . As runner up, Eric’s take of the prize pool was $2,342. As the winner, Ernest takes home $2,650, the trophy, and a champion’s bragging […]

The huge PLO Jackpot has been won
We often say that there’s a special excitement when a Bad Beat Jackpot is hit during one of the premier poker festivals we host at Playground – and that goes double when a Jackpot grows beyond the norm… like when the PLO Jackpot recently surpassed the $100K mark! That was the exact situation at Playground at around 1:00am on January 29, when on table 43, a $2/$2 PLO table, a hand developed that would prove to meet the requirements for the Jackpot! Calvin L (seat 2) opened the action in the hand with a raise to $10, which was followed by folds all around to seat 8, which was occupied by the player known best as Agi. He called, and the hand was heads up to the flop. Flop: The action on the flop went check-check, and the dealer put ou the on the turn. Agi opened with a bet […]

Samuel Miranda is the Grand Prix Canada Champion
The heads up battle had been epic, and stacks were roughly even for a long stretch of time – but eventually, and slowly, Samuel began to expand – and maintain – his lead. When blinds reached 4M/8M in level 53, however, a 100M stack was no longer much to rely on. Breyer Calvert – who had played an amazing tournament all day today – started to feel the blinds pressure and shoved 4 out of 6 hands in a row – seemingly willing to bring the matter to a conclusion. Samuel, for his part, was patient and didn’t fall rise to the provocation… until the final hand of the night. Samuel was on the button and just limped, and Breyer went all in. Samuel made the call. Breyer: Samuel: Things looked bad for Samuel on the flop of , and the turn didn’t alter the recipe at all… but then, […]
Event #10 Champion: Karim Abdelhamid
Event #10 of the World Cup of Cards, the $300 + $30 6-Max Re-entry, brought out a huge field that contributed 181 entries, allowing this event to more than double its prize pool guarantee of $25,000. The early stages of play were surprisingly prudent, however, that dynamic changed dramatically following the first break of the day. Following the first break, the players shifted into another gear as three-bets and big pots became the norm. This change in the action brought along with it a a big uptick in the number of re-entries, which reached into the thirties before the end of the re-entry period. Following the end of late registrations and re-entries, there was a huge disparity between the big and small stacks in the field. The chip leaders were consistently playing stacks that approached triple the chip average while many others clung to their tournament lives with stacks of […]
Nghi Van Tran is our winner
A champion has been declared in the $150 + $15 Shootout Turbo Event #9 in the World Cup of Cards. After less than five hands of heads up play, Nghi Van Tran (also known as Henry) bettered Sherif Saad. Nghi Van went all in with and Sherif bet everything on . The community cards came down . As runner up, Sherif’s share of the prize pool was $2690! But the grand prize of $3,400 and a champion’s bragging rights go to Nghi Van, who played dominant poker throughout the event!
Changes to the MILLIONS format
The 2019 MILLIONS Tour, coming to Playground in May, has undergone a few alterations. After analyzing player feedback, collected live at major events and through various polls, partypoker LIVE has added a Day 1 to the Main Event schedule, set from May 21 to May 26. With an extra starting flight, players will be able to fire 2 bullets in the event, but on two separate days. This change is a happy medium, allowing travelling poker players to have a second chance in case they hit an unavoidable wall on Day 1A, while still ensuring that no one will be able to fire multiple bullets on the same day. The precious value of your initial stack remains, keeping all players on the same level, regardless of their bankroll. Here are the revised specs: Buy-in: $10,300 Two Day 1s A $5,000,000 guarantee Format: Next-day Re-entry The amended format will likely encourage […]
