Due to unforeseen environmental problems, the WSOP-C Playground Event #4, the $5,000 + $300 Super High Roller event, has been postponed by one day. The tournament, scheduled to start at 5:00pm today (August 29th), will now get underway at 1:00pm on Thursday August 30th. Day 2 will be held on Friday August 31st at 1:00pm. Along with the schedule change comes slight changes to the tournament structure. Day 1 in the event will now continue until the final table of 9 players is established. At this time, the players will bag their chips to return for Day 2, which will play down to a winner on a single table. Late registration and re-entries in the tournament will continue to be available until the end of level 12.

Dallis Kerbrat crowned winner of the Monster Stack
After 14 hours of intense play in Day 2, the Monster Stack tournament is over. Dallis Kerbrat has won Event #3 of the 2018 WSOP-C Playground – Monster Stack! Play on Day 2 began with 145 players from yesterday’s Day 1. The pace was constant and eliminations were happening at a regular rate. Once the players were down to 16 there was a redraw, from then on the play slowed down considerably. At that point Khalid was chip leader by a hefty margin and Dallis was in 6th position. Khalid Waziri was consistently among the chip leaders throughout the day. Dallis Kerbrat’s rise to glory was not as seamless, and the 19 year-old from B.C. chewed and clawed his way to the final table. No less than 5 players were eliminated in one single level on the final table. Waziri played position, stack and image to chip away at his […]
Mandanici-Turcot wins the Colossus
Jason Mandanici-Turcot has won Event #1 of the 2018 WSOP-C Playground – the Colossus! After a heads up battle that lasted over 100 minutes in length – despite there being a deal in place – Jason finally found a way to best his opponent, Trevor Delaney, and take down the Championship. For his efforts on the day, Jason won $125,130 in cash and the first-ever WSOP-C Playground Championship Ring! Play on Day 3 of the tournament began with 37 players and the pace that was set at the beginning was blisteringly fast. There were 13 eliminations in the first hour of play today and another 8 in the second hour of play. The only time there was any kind of lull in the action was on the “bubble” before the redraw to take the tournament to two tables. When there were 5 players left, a deal was proposed and rejected […]
PLO BBJ Hits!
We’ve often remarked that along with the major poker events comes a rush of Bad Beat Jackpots – and while one BBJ isn’t exactly a “rush” – it’s a pretty good start! The Omaha BBJ was hit recently, so the jackpot amount was not tremendously large – $7,846 – but a jackpot is a jackpot! The action happened on Table 14, which was a full $5/$5 PLO table. The table was made up of a nice mix of local players and players visiting for the WSOP-C Playground. The button was on Seat 3 (Rajendra P) and there was a straddle to $10 from seat 6. Preflop action folded to Sammy P in seat 1 who chose to call. Action then folded to the button, who raised to $50 and found a call from the player in the sb (Elio S) and Sammy called. There were three players to the flop. […]

A Colossal bounty on Larry Robinson’s head!
Larry Robinson, former NHL player and coach, Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and Director of Charitable Initiatives at Playground Poker Club, has confirmed his presence at the Colossus, Event #1 of the WSOP-C Playground! Big Bird will be with us on Friday, August 24th for Day 1C of the Colossus, which starts at 12PM. Larry Robinson’s 17 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens as a strong yet mobile defenceman who played a big role in bringing 6 Stanley Cups to the city brought him a lot of love in the Montreal area and his participation in Playground Poker tournaments never goes unnoticed. However, it is his character that brings entertainment to the players. His demeanour at the tables is the quintessence of what poker is about: fun with friends. If you can’t remember what he looks like, search for the table where everyone is smiling and laughing! In tomorrow afternoon’s Colossus […]
Event time is Jackpot time!
The first WSOP-C Playground is less than 24 hours away, and those of you who have been around for a while know that most major events come with a cool passenger: the Bad Beat Jackpot! With so many hands being played, it is only natural to see an increase in Bad Beat hits during festivals, and everyone loves to be in the room when that happens. Here are a few numbers to look at, mull over and speculate on: 7 of the last 8 festivals produced at least one Bad Beat hit. Over 3 million dollars were paid out in Bad Beat money in the last 4 festivals. 6 (SIX!!!) Bad Beat Jackpots were hit during our last major event, the MILLIONS North America, including 1 Primary BBJ ($1,375,265!), 1 Omaha BBJ and 4 Secondary BBJs! Since last night at 6PM, the amount of the Primary BBJ is $920,204. That […]
The Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot was hit!
Last night at 8:48PM, thirteen PLO players became very happy, very suddenly. Indeed, the Bad Beat Omaha was hit on table 13 when Kieu’s flopped quads got one-outered by Hafedh. The action started with Hafedh limping in from the under-the-gun position. The bet was raised to $20 from the button, and that amount was called by both blinds and the limper. Flop: No action there. Kieu was waiting for someone to catch something. Hafedh took the free card: ! Third to act, he led with a $15 bet, and only Kieu called. On the river, there was no more holding back. Kieu had the best feeling you could have at a cash game table: having the second nuts when the only hand beating you gives you the Bad Beat Jackpot, and watching your opponent push his chips! Kieu check-raised from $100 to the personable $202, and Hafedh’s all-in announcement was met […]
