Day 2 of Event #18, the $100 + $10 Playground 100 has now come to an end. With a total of 743 entries, 76 players returned in the money today to play Day 2. Play was scheduled to either play down to the nine-handed final table, or, 12 levels. As play slowed down in the final levels, the floor announced near the end of level 28 that play would stop after four more hands. There were still 13 players left in contention at that point.

During the last four hands, the action picked up as the short stacks picked up hands and tried their best to secure a double-up to head into Day 3. Unfortunately, there were three bustouts during the last four hands. Jahendra Mahendra Rajah exited in 13th place for $900. Eric Ranger exited in 12th place for $1,130. A special mention to Rose-Ann Levert who finished in 11th place for $1,130 in her first ever live tournament that she has played.

When the action came to a halt, it was Loai El Ayday who was in the top spot, with an impressive 3,460,000 chips, good for 43 big blinds.

As there are still 10 players left in the field and the final table plays out nine-handed, play will continue on Day 3 on two five-handed tables. Once an elimination takes place, there will be a seating re-draw and the final table will be formed. Players are all assured of at least $1,360 and are playing for the top prize of $13,451. Play has slowed down considerably as all remaining players are well aware of the pay jumps that will happen on the final table.

It’s getting real now as only 16 players remain in the room. The current payout in 16th is $750 and the next pay-jump takes place in 15th, where it becomes $900. Once the final table is formed, 9th will pay $1,360 and 1st pays out $13,451. it’s getting real for sure.

The millionaires have arrived! With an average stack now at 646K, three millionaires have appeared, but it is Jean-Pascal Gauthier who has pulled away from the rest of the field and taken the lead with 1,990,000 chips, effectively 66 big blinds.

The floor has just paused the clock in order to do a table re-draw as only 24 players now remain in contention. The current payout is at $530, and next pay-jump takes place in 21st when it goes to $630. Play continues tonight until only the final nine players remain.

There will be a break coming up shortly and a new leaderboard will be posted. Looking around the room, it appears that there are now multiple millionaire stacks in play!

“Last woman standing”:

With close to 150K already in the middle on a board, Maxim Suszek-Guerin lead out for 32,000, receiving calls from both Gilles Leblanc and Philippe Belley. The river brought out the , and Suszek-Guerin checked, followed by a bet of 55,000 from Leblanc. Belley called and Suszek-Guerin folded.

Belley made the call with ace-high and it was the right hero call, with leblanc missing his flush. If the flush would have hit, Leblanc would have possibly lost even more chips as Belley would have made the nut flush.

Some of the most recent bustouts: James MCDermott, Piotr Wielopolski, Pierre Martel, Tanvir Ahmed, Eric Miron, Andy D’Alessandro, Miguel Goncalo, Nick Nickoletopoulos, Bruno Niquette, Guillaume Lincourt and Abram Logasy.

The current payout is at $370 and the next pay jump happens in 27th place for $450.

The players have just had their first break of the night and almost half the field has exited the tournament room. Payouts are still low ($320) so short stacks will be making moves to try to secure badly needed double-ups. Everyone still left in the room is doing their best to build their stacks as the more serious payoutrs take place on tomorrow’s final table.

With an average chip stack right now at 353,800, Maxim Suszek-Guerin, who finished Day 1B with 367,000 chips (the second largest stack of the flight) has taken the lead, more than doubling his stack to 850,000 chips, good for 67 big blinds.

Crazy hands and crazy boards happen online. They definitely also happen when you play live.

On table 29, Patrick Mailloux started the day with 103,500 chips. With the blinds at 4,000/8,000, he raised it up and John Plamer who was next to act, moved all in. Halle Rafik Kuo on John’s immediate left then re-shoved over top. Mailloux made the call.

It looked like it would be a chop between Palmer and Kuo, although Mailloux had some outs too if he could spike a queen. The poker God seemed to have other plans for the runout which came making the nut flush for Palmer.

Welcome back to to Day 2 of the $100 + $10 Playground 100. With a total of 743 entries, 76 players bagged their Day 1 stacks to return tonight where play will continue until the final table is reached. The final will return tomorrow night to play down to a champion along with the $13,451 prize and the champion trophy. All players who have returned for Day 2 are now in the money and are assured of at least a $200 min-cash.

The Playground 100 received a total of 743 entries from five starting flights. The huge turnout allowed this event to easily surpass the prize pool guarantee of $50,000, with a total of $71,871 in prize money up for grabs.
