There have been 8 more eliminations over the last level meaning that 42 players remain in contention, with lots of poker still left to play.

On table 58, action opened under the gun when Kitty S. raised it up from 600 to 1,500, finding calls from Danielle Bracy seated on her immediate left, as well as from Lori Sanderson and Elisibetta Bertucci in mid-late position and from Golnaz Aghabeigi in the small blind and Kathy Sawers in the big blind.

The flop came and the action checked to Bracy who threw in a bet of 5,700, a healthy size bet in this 6-way pot totaling 9,600 chips. All of the other players let go of their hands and Bracy showed only one card, a six, as she raked in the pot. Bracy was in fourth place at the first break and is continuing to build her stack into large piles of chips.

The players have just returned from the first break of the day and the late registration and re-entry period have now come to a close. There are 56 total entries (including 5 re-entries) which is great for this last open event.

The average stack is exactly 28,000 chips, good for 56 big blinds and there is a very tight race for the lead; Golnaz Aghabeigi is leading the pack with a stack of 62,400 chips (125 big blinds) and is followed closely by Aline Laramee sitting on a stack of 61,300 chips.

The turnout is nothing short of excellent as there are now 47 players remaining from 51 entries (including 3 re-entries). With late registration open until 2:15pm, it looks like it will be a nice size field today with a great prize pool.

Playground, in association with the Women’s Poker Association, presents the Playground Women’s Series, a poker series exclusively for women! Players accumulate points through four open tournaments, held monthly trying to earn a seat in the final which will play out tomorrow, Sunday January 19.

The series started back in October and there have so far been three open events with today marking the final event of the series. The top five finishers from each of the open events have already secured a seat into tomorrow’s final, and, the top 20% of the field in each open event also earn tournament leaderboard points with the top 10 point earners from all four events also receiving an entry into the final.

The buy-in is $150 + $15 and there is a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000. Players start with 25,000 chips and the event features a single re-entry available right up to the end of the late registration period which is at the start of level 7 at 2:15pm. $10 are withheld from each buy-in to make up the final prize pool.

Blinds: 20 minutes for the first six levels, then 30 minutes levels starting at level 7.
